Making Inferences

WALT : ‘inference’ is an understanding that the reader comes to by interpreting clues in a text.

One day Zadie went for a walk to the park to feed the ducks. On the way she bought a loaf of bread to feed them. When she arrived she was surprised to see so many people there. After a few minutes she was very pleased to see her best friend Caitlin was there too. She placed her bag on a nearby seat and then wandered down to the water’s edge.

Unexpectedly she slipped on the wet, slippery grass and fell into the pond. Boy was she wet! She needed quite a bit of help to wade back to shore. The ducks were very disappointed to miss out on their bread.
